Honesty as our Default.
I never realized why I got the ick when people say “I’m going to be straight forward with you…” or “To be honest.” But now I know why.
Was what they were saying before false? Or dishonest?
I believe that most people use these phrases to justify something mean.
Kind of off-topic but kind of on-topic: My ideal reputation is to be kind (e.g. smile when I pass people:), thoughtful (e.g. ask people about the little things they briefly mention), and I want to always stand up for what is right.
